Live at The Old Stables....
August 10th 2017 - Me for Queen and REN
Me for Queen (aka Mary Erskine) is a stunning artist who has been writing songs since the tender age of 13. Finding inspiration in people and their stories, Me for Queen draws obvious comparisons to Carole King and Regina Spektor with hints of Kate Bush and Laura J Martin. Years of classical training backed by a Blues guitarist for a father have made for an interesting mix of soul and folk within her magical sound. She has a tremendous clarity of voice and exceptional piano skills that never fail to produce stunning, breathtaking moments.
"beautiful, soaring vocals" - The Guardian
And support is coming from a great young artist REN. Inspired by some of the very best folk and alt folk musicians of recent times – John Martyn, Dick Gaughan, James Taylor, The Staves and Foy Vance – singer-songwriter, Ren gives us his own brand of contemporary alt folk.
"Slow, sparse and gorgeous’" - Tom Robinson BBC Radio 6
"Some songwriters don’t just sing, they bleed the words’"– Ray Jones, Time Out Live
